With 10 distinct rooms, a new restaurant and bar, two pool areas, a wellness room and ample gardens, the Robertson Small provides superlative service to our guests, maintaining the standards that make it Robertson’s only five-star hotel.
Designer Sophie Ashby decorated each of the 10 rooms at The Small with the same principles in mind but each has its own character, with custom artworks and designs from an innovative list of collaborators to bring colour, warmth and soul to the building.

“I have used 12 different colour tones throughout the hotel and each room varies slightly in combination. I was inspired by the local terrain, flora and fauna, so there’s elements of clay, ochre, aloes, the mountains - colours you could be surrounded by whatever the weather, wherever you are. I wanted there to be a strong link between outside and in”

Rooms
The Robertson Small Hotel has 10 en-suite rooms in The Manor House, Stables and Poolside suites.
Built in 1909, the Manor House is now a National Monument. The four Manor House suites sport typically Victorian high, embossed ceilings and large windows onto the veranda.
Two downstairs suites - each with a private patio - and a larger Honeymoon suite upstairs make up the three Stable suites, all of which overlook a private swimming pool.
The classic contemporary Poolside suites each open onto a private wooden deck with access to the swimming pool.

Restaurant
The Small Restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner daily with all bookings by appointment. There is seating both inside the Manor House and on the patio beside the hotel gardens. A classic menu with refined seasonal dishes elevating the best in local produce is served alongside choice wines from the valley.
Rose Ashby of the esteemed Spring Restaurant at Somerset House in London wrote the first menu for The Small Restaurant, scouring the valley to source the finest producers of local ingredients and designed the menu to offer simple, sophisticated and strictly seasonal Italian-inspired dishes.

Bar
EM Bar serves a range of cocktails alongside an ample wine list. Craft liquor such as Hope on Hopkins gin and Bain’s Cape Mountain whisky are enhanced by syrups and cordials made on site. A custom bar in blue and white porcelain by artist Michael Chandler pays homage to the bar’s last resident, the mysterious ‘Tannie Em‘ who is said to have enjoyed a drink before bed.

At The Robertson Small’s tranquil poolside Wellness Room, we offer a selection of therapeutic skincare and body treatments, specialised massages, facials, pedicures and manicures.
